Drop off & Pick up Procedures

Hello Henderson Families! We can’t wait to welcome your student! Here are a few reminders to help arrival and dismissal run as smoothly as possible.

Morning Entry

For everyone’s safety, parents/guardians will not be able to walk students into the building.
Please give your child a big first-day sendoff from the bus stop or car line.
Our staff will be ready inside to guide them to the right place.

Where Students Go

Upon arrival, students will head straight to their classroom where their teacher will be waiting to greet them.

  • Students eating breakfast will be escorted to the cafeteria. Cafeteria lines stop serving at 7:45 am.
  • PreK students will have a special breakfast time once their day begins.

First Three Days – Wristbands

Please have your child wear their colored wristband (given at Meet the Teacher) on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This helps us quickly guide them to the correct location. Staff will be stationed throughout the building to assist students and ensure they get to the correct location. If your child did not attend Meet the Teacher night, you can pick up their wristband from 8:30-3:30 on Tuesday, 8/12.

BackPack Tage

For your child’s safety, a transportation tag will be attached to their backpack indicating their regular way home (car rider, bus, daycare, or walker). Please do not remove this tag. It helps our staff ensure your child is in the correct dismissal location each afternoon and, if needed, assists them in finding their classroom in the morning. If your child is a bus rider, this will be in addition to their SMART tag, which should remain on the backpack, as well. Please remind your child not to bend or cut any part of the SMART tag or it will not scan correctly and will have to be replaced. The cost to replace a missing/lost, or broken SMART tag is $5.

Important Times

  • Doors Open: 7:20 AM
  • Class Begins: 7:50 AM
  • Dismissal: 3:25 PM

Cafeteria

  • Breakfast: $2.10 | Lunch: $3.50
  • Apply for free/reduced meals and add lunch money through your Skyward Family Access account.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

We use two lanes for drop-off/pick-up:

  • Curbside lane (left): For PreK & Kindergarten families only.
  • Outside lane (right): For 1st - 4th grade families
  • Families with multiple children should follow the youngest child’s lane location.

To keep traffic moving:

  • Pull all the way forward and stay in your car.
  • Help your child practice buckling/unbuckling their seat belt or car seat independently.
  • Staff cannot buckle students due to liability. If you need to assist, pull forward to the front of the building.

Parent Pick-Up Tags

  • You must have the school-issued tag to pick up your student from the car line or as a walker to Fox Hollow.
  • Without a tag, you’ll need to park and check in at the front office.
  • Need a tag or extras? Email Pam Green at pagreen@forneyisd.net.

Bus Riders

  • Register your child for bus service HERE before they can ride.
  • Find bus numbers and times HERE.
  • Smart Tags will be attached to backpacks when available. Please DO NOT remove once they are attached. 
  • Expect possible delays during the first few days—track routes via the Smart Tag system.
  • Note: PreK students are now eligible for district bus transportation.
     

Changes in Going Home

Submit any transportation changes by 3:00 PM by emailing both your child’s teacher and Pam Green (pagreen@forneyisd.net)
